Dr. Michael Siering worked as a research assistant at Layer 2 of the E-Finance Lab and at the chair of e-Finance from September 2010 to September 2015 and was a visiting scholar at Pennsylvania State University. In his dissertation thesis „Decision Support Systems in Electronic Markets – Linguistic Aspects and System Robustness“, he investigates how linguistic aspects of unstructured data sources can be used for supporting decisions in the fields of investment management, financial market surveillance and social commerce. He successfully completed his doctoral studies in July 2014. His research in the field of decision support systems was published in leading outlets such as the Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), Journal of Information Technology (JIT) and Decision Support Systems (DSS), presented at leading international conferences and was awarded with a best paper award. Furthermore, during different projects, Michael Siering has collaborated with financial market participants such as Interactive Data, Union Investment and Börse Stuttgart. Michael Siering is an Associated Researcher at the chair of e-finance and works as a Business Consultant in risk management at d-fine.
